Nature and play based learning

~~ From the initial meeting with Lisa and her husband to the transition period and now 8 months of attending Clove Hill, I could not be more grateful for the care Lisa provides to our son. She is gentle, caring, nurturing, and so much more. What I love most about how she runs her program is how she puts the kids first. She recognizes what our kids are capable of feeling, learning, and knowing at such a young age and treats them that way. I feel that so often we don't give our kids the credit they deserve, but Lisa does. She creates a sacred place for them to explore, play, and discover the natural world and how to interact within it. It's not all about the parents, it's about the kids. Through watching her interact with my little boy over the past 8 months, I have learned so much about him and have enjoyed every second of his growth at Clove Hill. He attends the Tuesday/Thursday half-day program. I stayed the very first week through the transition program. He had only stayed with family prior to Clove Hill so I was unsure as to how he would adapt. He did very well and now as soon as we arrive, he gets so excited and runs to Lisa. Most days, he doesn't even want to leave when I get there to pick him up. She always provides a snack and lunch during his time there. They take a morning walk around the neighborhood and participate in circle time with rhymes, dancing, and puppetry. They spend most of the day outside, in nature, where their imaginations can run wild. She has many different areas for the kids to play, including a sandbox. jungle gym/fort, fenced in grassy area with chairs and play yard, playhouse, garden, and cages housing bunnies. I could go on and on about what I love about Clove Hill and Lisa. I am just very pleased with her program and it has far exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Clove Hill to anyone looking for a nature based, gentle, child-led play and learning environment.             Tabitha Hanes -  Clove Hill Parent
